Are you planning a new trip but you don’t know where to go? Think about Morocco, the country that surprised me the most of all countries I’ve been to. In this article I’ll give you seven reasons why you should add Morocco to your bucketlist.
1. Nature, culture and cities in one country
That’s why I loved Morocco so much: it has it all. You can combine nature with culture and cities in just a few days. Even when you only visit Marrakech, you can drive to the mountains within two hours. Great landscapes, a strong culture and lovely cities.
2. It’s not expensive
3. I’ts a safe country
Some people are a bit scared when they think about Morocco, but it’s not a country to be scared of. It’s a safe country and as long as you don’t go close to the border of Algeria, it’s okay. The locals in Morocco are very kind!
4. You can easily go on a roadtrip
It’s a great country to hire a car and go on a roadtrip yourself. You can also travel by busses and trains but that’s not ideal. By having your own car you can decide whenever and wherever you want to go. But make sure you arrive early at the next destination, because there won’t be street lighting in the mountains and you definitely don’t want to drive through the mountains when it’s dark outside.
5. Delicious food
Something that you really can’t miss in Morocco: good food. The locals know how to cook and they cook like the best. Healthy couscous, spicy soups and traditional tajines: it’s so good. And they combine so many ingredients so the food is never the same. Yum!
6. Beautiful landscapes
Morocco is stunning, definitely when you leave Marrakech. This country surprised me the most of all countries where I’ve ever been to when it comes to nature. Thousands of palm trees, houses of clay, enormous sandy areas, rugged mountains, deep valleys, green oasis and winding rivers!
7. The riads are a must
You have to stay at a riad for at least one night. Riads are old palaces or old houses of rich people in the earlier days. Some riads still got their traditional style with green courtyards and beautiful ornaments. A real good riad is a bit more expensive, but it’s totally worth it. And if you don’t want to spend money on this, you can also drink a cocktail on the rooftop or you can have lunch. The most riads are open to visit, so you CAN’T miss these stunning places.
